The last stop of the day is at ‘Ārahurahu Marae an important marae on the western side of Tahiti that we barely catch open

The last nature stop today are the beautiful Grottes de Mara’a with three special grottos and waterfalls to visit

The farthest we go today are the Vaipahi Water Gardens a beautiful area to hike and look for birds while enjoying the water features

Marae Maha’iatea is just a few minutes from Taharuu Beach and is the most significant Marae on Tahiti and even impressed Cook during his visit

We eat lunch at a roadside cafe before stopping at the famous black sand Taharuu Beach with some great views

Our first snorkeling in Tahiti is in Mahana Park seeing lots of fish and enjoying the great water after birdwatching nearby

A major attraction of our trip to Tahiti is a birdwatching trip to see the Tahiti Monarch a very rare endemic bird restricted to just three valleys on Tahiti

We end the day with a visit to Marae Ta’ata an interesting historical site that can be explored for free and is less visited than other locations on Tahiti

We spend most of the afternoon in the fascinating Museum of Tahiti with artifacts from all the archipelagos of French Polynesia and beyond

After the gardens we explore Papeete’s downtown which unfortunately is mostly closed on Sunday
