After birding and snorkeling we are quite hungry so the next item on our agenda is to find a place for lunch. We do not want something that takes a lot of time and in the end decide on a cafe that also orders snacks. This allows us hopefully both to try some of the famous coffees and have something to eat.

The cafe we chose is actually quite good, both the food and the coffee. The sitting is outside unfortunately near a clinic but luckily it is closed for lunch while we are there.

Full from lunch we continue on towards our next stop on our itinerary. It is a longer drive but soon we are at Taharuu Beach a famous black sand beach. Luckily there is enough parking and soon we walk along the beautiful beach with some great views.

While the parking lot is relatively full the beach seems surprisingly empty with only a few couples walking or sitting on the beach.

In fact it seems that most people are in the sea, not swimming which is not recommended here but surfing the high waves. And surrounded by terns that fly around looking for fish. And then it is time to return the car and continue on, not far only to the Marae on the landtip next to the beach.
