Last stop for today is a visit to the American Art Museum for a last cultural stop in Washington DC before we go exploring the area around it. The museum is surprisingly focused on animals and nature something we enjoy and so we start exploring the many paintings and sculptures.
The paintings are quite beautiful especially with the focus on nature and unspoiled landscapes.
There are also many sculptures both of animals and humans that are interesting and fun to see. We enjoy the museum more than we expected and we are curious to see what else we can find.
How about an entire exhibit dedicated to birds? And then a trio of bears? They are quite fun and we continue on through the large museum looking through the exhibits.
There is also a focus on paintings of the American West, the unspoiled West of American imagination. And a Driftwood Horse which is quite special, it is something that we will see a lot in the future.
We finish with the modern section which is interesting from the point of view of seeing what ideas the artists can come up with, quite a few very weird ones really. And then it is time for dinner and then hotel, tomorrow we are starting a two day tour of the area to explore the surrounding states.
