Taking the backroads to Laughlin

It seems it has become almost a yearly tradition to go to Laughlin for Martin Luther King day. It is quite a scenic area and there are lots of things to see and do around Laughlin. This time we plan to take a few backroads towards Laughlin and explore a part of Arizona that we seldom see. And find some caches along the way as we slowly move north along US-93.

We explore a few side roads especially after we enter the Joshua tree section of the road but we try to avoid anything to difficult as we do not want to get stuck.

Next is the ghost town of Nothing, a place we always like to stop given the fun name. There was a shop once here but we never caught it open and now only the sign proclaims the truth, there is nothing here except ruins.

Next stop is the Burro Creek Campground loop near the namesake bridge. There are some nice views of the lake formed by the creek where a few coot are floating around.

We find a couple caches enjoy the different viewpoints and eat a few snacks and then it is time to move on.

We then go using backroads to Yucca exploring the beautiful landscapes and finding additional lonely caches along the way. The sunset is especially stunning and we enjoy it as we slowly continue towards Laughlin.

We stay at Avi Casino which is one of the accomodations that we like and is really cheap and then decide to go out for a celebratory dinner.

The dinner is quite good and tired and full we are ready to go to bed as tomorrow we have a very busy day planned.
