Most Europe flights from the west of the US have a habit to mess up with your sleep rhythm. You leave late in the day then you try to sleep on the plane and fail and in the end arrive in Europe early in the morning, not able to check-in at the hotel but literally falling over due to tiredness. This time we are in much better shape as our relatives arrived a day earlier so there is a room that we can crash in for a couple hours and recuperate before starting our exploration of Dublin.
After feeling more energized we take a taxi to O’Connell Street, a large boulevard with many impressive monuments. There are also loads of people both tourists and locals, something that we didn’t really expect.
As we are hungry we stop to eat a typical Irish breakfast, or at least something that is advertised as such. It is quite good and refreshed we continue on passing the historic General Post Office, an impressive building.
We continue down the street marvelling at the many historic brick buildings that line the street and look impressive.
As in all major European cities there are lots of pigeons in the downtown area as well as street performers. We enjoy the hubbub as we slowly make our way to the Liffey and the south side of Dublin
