Stepping out into the Dom Square we decide that before exploring the close by Liebfrauenkirche (Church of Our Lady) we should get something to cool ourselves. Like icecream. And serendipitously there is an icecream place right on the Dom Square but unfortunately it looks full. With luck we find some seating place inside and then we just need to find a server to order which takes a bit as everyone is quite busy.
In the end we get the menu and now it is time to choose. First we start with a cold coca cola which here is served with mint and a lemon, quite an interesting mix.
The icecream is quite good, both the more common one, with some light alcohol, and the lasagna type. Yes again we got some lasagna one as it is quite unusual looking but good.
Refreshed we are now ready to enter the Liebfrauenkirche which is part of the same complex with the Dom. However it was built only in the 13th century and it has been inscribed onto the World Heritage Site list because it one of the oldest Gothic churches in Germany. And we can see how it is different from the cathedral with more decorations and a bit more frills, which we actually like.
It is also smaller than the Dom, significantly so, making it seem both more intimate and crowded. We really like the ceiling though, it is beautifully decorated and we sit for a while just enjoying it and the beautiful church.
We then walk around the church once, enjoying all the flourishes and the beautiful stained glass windows and then it is time to exit into the heat and visit the next museum on our list, the Trier Cathedral Museum.
