We spend some time on the other side of the Breitstrom exploring the newer area of the Old Town. First we make our way towards the Protestant Church, or as far as we can tell former Protestant Church. The draw here is that Martin Luther spent ten years here studying at the University and living as a monk at the Protestant Augustinian Monastery.
While the format is still church like it looks that now it is a hotel or some type of accomodation and when we try to enter we are told that this is happening only with a guide so we decide to move on.
We then decide to explore the Angerplatz, the major square on this side of the creek so we make our way towards it via beautiful side streets and interesting parks.
We then reach the main road between the bridge and the Angerplatz and it is quite popular with many stores and even more pedestrians trying to get killed by the fast moving and silent trams.
And then we reach Anger square which has quite a weird shape and is extended in multiple directions. There are beautiful buildings and even more of the cartoon animals, a mouse in this case.
There are also lots of impressive looking buildings lining the plaza, the Post Office building is the most impressive but the Angermuseum is also quite beautiful.
And then we start back towards the bridge and the other side of the river admiring a few other impressive buildings along the way. The goal is now to find a place to eat and then to leave towards Trier which is still a long way away.
