One of the things we always wanted to visit in Cluj was the Tailor’s Tower. Whenever we visited it was closed sometimes just in general and sometimes in renovation. But this year it finally is open during a visit so we make our way through the downtown area that is even more pedestrianized than ever. Soon we are at the small remaining wall area anchored by the newly renovated Tailor’s Tower.

The entrance to our surprise is free so we start our visit by exploring the art expo situated on the ground floor. It is a small one but interesting enough and then it is time to move on.

We have two choices up or down and we start up as we want to see if there are any interesting views. On the top floors there are multiple historical exhibits related to the interesting tower.

And yes there are some views from a scary looking walkway to a window that overlooks the area that we just passed. It is quite fun to see it now from up top and to see the new pedestrian area and the wall from a different vantage point.

We also enjoy the exhibits especially the ones showing photos of how the area looked across the last 150 years. It is great to see some photos from the communist times and how they tried to renovate and failed a few times.

After climbing to the top we now descend into the basement which has an exhibit related to the history of the Cluj University.

It is surprisingly interesting especially during the time when the Protestants and Catholic were vying for control of the city and the university. And here we also discover a toilet, really cool find in a city that has a dearth of free public toilets. And then it is time to leave to return back to our lodging as we have to meet a friend later in the evening.
