On Friday our only goal is to reach Patagonia relatively early in the evening as we have to leave after work. With gas prices spiking we also want to buy some gas on the way which is a whole adventure with police cars blocking the road in one direction for some reason. But in the end we buy gas and arrive at the hoped time in Patagonia. Our previous lodging that we liked was not available so we get a new one, it is a quite small but good enough as we won’t be spending that much time inside.

The cabin is more or less a studio with the one room being both bedroom and kitchen and everything else. We know that but what we don’t know is that the window is ground level, the cabin is actually halfway buried in the ground and we can see the feet of everyone passing by. Which are surprisingly many people.

We use the small but practical kitchen extensively during our visit to eat dinner and breakfast whenever we don’t eat out. And we even buy a bottle of wine to enjoy to celebrate a good day of birding and hiking.

For a small house there are a surprising number of decorations in the room and quite a few are quirky like the scrabble board arranged to form words that relate to Patagonia.

The first evening after arriving we walk to the nearby winery to do a wine tasting. We are not sure if they will have place inside but we shouldn’t have worried. And with the plate of cheeses and salami we also have dinner for tonight. And then we go to sleep, we have an early birding tour in the morning that we don’t want to miss.
