To the north of Arizona Utah is a huge state with some beautiful national parks. Bryce, Zion, Arches and Canyonlands National Parks are all within one day drive and each of them is spectacular in their own way. Further north high mountains with scenic trails and Salt Lake City near the eponymous lake are also worth a visit. Also close by to Arizona are multiple beautiful slot canyons and hoodos and acres of spectacular scenery which are always great for a great weekend trip.

- A roundabout hike to the Blue Pool Arch
Blue Pool Arch is a nice hike and arch as long as you can avoid the new private land bought and fenced in by Amangiri - The dinosaurs of Dinosaur NM
Today we spend the day exploring Dinosaur NM seeing the impressive dinosaur quarry, interesting petroglyphs and hiking through the park - Short visit of the Flaming Gorge
In the afternoon we do a side trip to Wyoming and Flaming Gorge NRA enjoying some nice views before retreating back to Vernal - The special McConkie Ranch Petroglyphs
First major stop today are the McConkie Ranch Petroglyphs a series of panels with some beautifully detailed and interesting petroglyphs - The beautiful Sego Canyon petroglyphs
Last stop today is the impressive Sego Canyon with multiple types of petroglyphs and some interesting ruins - The special Copper Ridge Dinosaur Trackway
On the way to Sego we stop to explore the Copper Ridge Dinosaur Trackway that promises and delivers some very well defined dinosaur tracks worth seeing - The impressive views of Dead Horse Point SP
We start the day with a visit of Dead Horse Point SP exploring the canyonlands and enjoying the great views of the Colorado River and red rock formations - Moab Brands trail system hike
We end the day exploring the Moab Brands trails and finding caches in the falling darkness - Onto the False Kiva to find petroglyphs
Second stop today is on the False Kiva to see a dinosaur footprint and even more interesting petroglyphs - Exploring Four Toes and other interesting petroglyphs
Today we start with a series of petroglyph panels culminating with the Four Toes panel all of them quite interesting and easy to access - A great hike in North Fork Mule Canyon
Today we spend the day exploring the North Fork of the Mule Canyon finding ruins all along the trail and enjoying the colder weather - Main Mule Canyon Ruin
Last stop today is at the well preserved main Mule canyon ruin which can be easily visited from SR 95 - Exploring side canyons and finding ruins
Following some lonely caches we explore the canyons and ridges in the area with some great views and even a few ruins along the way - Exploring Cottonwood Trail ruins
We start the day with an exploration of Cottonwood Wash a road littered with ancient ruins as well as more recent mining remains - The really narrow Wire Pass Canyon
Today we spend the day in Wire Pass Canyon a beautiful and famous slot canyon right next to the Wave - The beautiful Toadstools Hoodoo Trail
We end the day with a beautiful hike to the Toadstools that we have seen from above the day prior - Paria Rimrocks at sunset
We spend the sunset on Paria Rimrock trail enjoying the beautiful rock formations and views - Wading through the Paria Box
We spend a couple hours exploring the small but deep Paria Box and finding a few caches while wading through knee deep water - Eagle Sink and return to Phoenix
On the way back we stop by Eagle Sink a lesser known but impressive limestone sinkhole before taking the scenic route home - Lick Wash and Kanab
Besides visiting Kanab for a short while we spend most of the day on Lick Wash Trail a beautiful trail through a slot canyon ending at the historic LeFevre cabin on No Man’s Mesa
