After an almost two weeks tour into Guyana which was both exciting and exhausting we take a few weeks to recover. But we get antsy so we decide to start again today with our first trip on State Trust Land. It is relatively close and we get to decide how far we want to hike and how many caches to find. In fact we have a centerpiece cache to look for, a famously lost Ape cache. Famous for geocachers only of course.

The trails are quite flat here and easy to follow and there are some great views of the Superstition Mountains throughout. This is why we like this State Trust land section that much. It also helps that it is very easy to access.

As there were some rains in the last weeks we see quite a few new vegetation on the way, flowering creosote bushes and new plants sprouting everywhere which is neat.

We find quite a few caches along the way including our top goal the Ape cache. Which has quite a story, we are not sure if it is real but if it is it was supposed to be part of of an old series of caches planned for the launch of the Ape movies back in 2001. However this one was never published then and only now was found again and re-published.

And then it is time to return back to the parking finding also a few birds along the way and just enjoying the great weather. Overall it was a great short walk on a level trail that really whetted our appetite for a few more hikes before the New Year starts.
