After a smoother than expected ferry ride it is time to drive to Kenting for our two night stay on the southern tip of Taiwan. We really wanted to explore a few actual beaches in Taiwan so we booked our hotel right on a beach with close access to the Kenting Night Market as a bonus. Finding the parking is a bit of a challenge and we have the host run in front of the car to direct us to the parking spot. The room however is very spacious with a really large jacuzzi tub that we enjoy.

There are also some nice views from our mini balcony including of the beach that we intend to explore tomorrow, today it is too late already.

In the evening it is time to explore the Kenting Night Market, it is one of the major ones in Taiwan. It is probably a 10 minutes walk from the hotel and it is a nice walk during the cooler evening hours.

The night market is a bit different than we expected, it is on the main street which is not closed off. So there are the carts and then a sidewalk where you can walk and explore the offerings. It works now but with more tourists I am sure they would spill over into the street. Which is patrolled by a Punish car, we think initially it is a police car but looking more closely we notice it is a private car. Interesting.

One of the recommended foods here are the deep fried milk squares and there are a few kiosks that are selling them. We but a few units and they are worthwhile, they are very good.

There are also other items and we also buy something for breakfast for next day, like the interesting cigar donuts and crepes.

We also buy some potato pancakes which are yummy but large and admire the various seafoods that are available but decide to skip on anything too weird for now.

We buy our breakfast crepes from the Thai Banana Pancakes stall, famous for its, well, X-rated figurines on the counter. That doesn’t reduce its popularity for certain. There is also a stand that uses Trump as advertisement, fun. But the most common advertisements that we notice are scantily clad girls that try to attract passerbys to take shots or buy drinks.

And then it is time to return to the hotel even though we cannot resist and sample a few more things on the way. We also have a large bag with bought food and fruits for breakfast which is great as we don’t have included breakfast at the hotel.

The following night we repeat the process however today it is threatening to rain and even starts up a few times. As such there are less people and less kiosks open today,

Therefore we decide to eat at an indoor restaurant and buy an oyster omlette we really wanted to try for some time. The restaurant is quite popular and the food is interesting, not something that we would necessarily try again but worth trying once.

We also buy calamari which are quite good and some highly recommended soup dumplings from a kiosks, that will be our breakfast tomorrow as we start on our drive back up north.
