Turkey is a large country spanning Europe and Asia with a long and troubled history. The remnants of that history are everywhere from the ruins of Greek and Roman cities, including famous Troy, to Istanbul or Constantinople, the capital of the Roman Empire for centuries and then of the Ottoman Empire. There are also natural wonders including the special Pamukkale Hot Springs that we really want to visit someday. But our first visit together is to Istanbul, the city at the crossroads of the world, situated both in Europe and Asia and full of historical attractions, both Greco-Roman and Ottoman.
