Special sunset in Usery Park

To recuperate after our exhausting weekend near Payson we decide to walk in the evening in Usery Park to enjoy the beautiful sunset and also to move our tired and battered feet. In fact at least one of us is really impacted after the hike so we assume that a little bit of easy hiking might just restart their poor feet and knees. We park at a pedestrian entrance and soon are on the levee enjoying great views in all directions.

Of course we are here for the sunset and it is quite a beautiful one especially from the levee. And we are not the only ones enjoying it, everyone seems to be here to take photos of the sun falling below the horizon.

Continuing on the levee we have on one side the houses of the Mesa and Apache Junction while on the other side is the Usery Park. Looking towards Phoenix is the beautiful sunset while looking east we can see the Superstition Mountains, quite special in the red light.

As it gets later and later the colors change to deep reds with the clouds taking various colors and being fascinating to watch as they change seemingly every minute.

And then as it starts to get dark we decide to return towards the parking via another trail parallel to the levee. This one is cooler and has more wildlife and is also less exposed. The moon is also out and we enjoy the beautiful walk while returning to the car after this short hike in Usery Park.
