It is now time to make our way from Ngoitokitok Picnic area to Lerai Forest to find the picnic area there wher we plan to eat lunch. But of course we also have to stop on the way to take photos and enjoy the many animals just on the side of the road, mostly zebras and wildebeest.

There are also quite a few birds here including our first Abdim’s Stork, again right next to the car and easy to photograph.

As until now there are lots of gazelles including the beautiful Grant’s Gazelles next to the road between the two picnic sites. And also a Hamerkop, a weird and beautiful bird.

In the distance in the marshy area we see hippos, lots of them but none close to us unfortunately. Also the first Greater Flamingoes here, both adults and juveniles, really cool but still far away.

There are other birds in the marshy area including a bored Yellow-billed Stork and a very active Hadada Ibis looking for food in the water.

Besides wildebeests there are also buffalos in the area and they are quite impressive and a bit scary when seen up close. Luckily none are interested in us.

Other birds we see as we approach the picnic site are our first Kenya Rufous Sparrow and a smart looking Black-chested Snake-eagle.

And then we reach the picnic site and it is much smaller than the previous one and therefore also looks fuller even though there are fewer cars as an absolute number.

Luckily there are some open tables and we sit at one of them eating our lunch boxes and using the facilities before continuing to the last major attraction for the day, Lake Magadi.
