First nights in Papeete
We spend three nights at a condo in Papeete after a late arrival and use this as a base to explore this area of Tahiti
Long layover in Oahu on the way to Tahiti
On the way to Tahiti our flight has a long layover in Oahu where we explore the gardens and bet on whether a hurricane will cancel our flight
Mushroom hunting on the Rim
With the mushroom festival cancelled we decide to join a normal foray near Mogollon Rim and then hike a bit to find caches and deers
Hummingbirds and mushrooms in the White Mountains
We spend three days exploring the beautiful White Mountains attending a hummingbird festival and seeing lots of birds and finding mushrooms
Beautiful Pole Knoll Trail System
We spend the afternoon hiking the Pole Knoll Trail System before the rains make us return to the car for the long drive back to Phoenix
Exploring Jacques Marsh Wildlife Area
We start in the morning with an exploration of Jacques Marsh that is cut short due to the heat wave as well as lack of interesting birds
Confusing Squirrel Trail System
Our last stop for today is the Squirrel Springs trail system a convoluted series of loops with a beautiful creek nearby and lots of birds
White Mountains and turkeys in the rain
Today we try to find a place with no rain in the White Mountains and mostly fail but at least find some mushrooms and turkeys on the way
Special Terry Flat Loop
We end the day hiking the Terry Flats loop getting caught by rain and seeing some fun birds including a special grouse
