Exploring downtown Kutna Hora more in depth

From St Barbara Cathedral we return back to the street we climbed on from the creek trail. However this time we stop a bit more and investigate the shops along the way, at least those that are open, which are not many. This area is quite tourist heavy but we cannot understand where everyone is coming and going because otherwise the town seems to be deserted.

We are planning to enter the free Chocolate Museum but it is full of other tourists so we make our way further up towards beautiful Dačického house which has a recommended restaurant with the same name behind it. Initially we planned to eat there but there is no time so we continue on.

The Gothic Stone Fountain and the surrounding plaza is our turnaround point but we turn around on a different street to continue our sightseeing.

Soon we arrive at the Church of St John of Nepomuk which one of us really wanted to see so we find with some difficulty the entrance, via a photo gallery, and wait there until the visit is concluded.

Next on the tour is the Stone House, probably the most beautiful house in Kutna Hora. It houses now exhibits for the local museum.

We turn around again toward the Central Square passing the Plague Column, raised to celebrate the end of the plague. In the same plaza is the beautifully painted Marble House, something worth seeing.

Making our way down now but on a parallel road to the one we climbed we pass the Italian Court which is now a coin-minting museum. Next to it is the interesting Three Kings House which has, what else, three kings painted on it.

The Italian Court is a former royal palace and is therefore quite large as we can see as we follow the streets around it. At this point we are hungry and we are looking for any type of fast food as we have only a little more than half hour until the train we want to catch.

And we remember there was an open pastry shop that we saw while climbing towards the central square initially. We return to the initial road and lo and behold the pastry shop is still open. It even has a working restroom. So we order some pastries and buy a bottle of local cola and enjoy both for a few minutes while getting heated by two huge cooling system nearby. Cooling for the refrigerators, not for us…

The pastries however are quite good, we really enjoy them and they are filling and refueled we are ready to find the train station.

The train station is quite weird as all the entrances that we find are closed. We go around the station for a few times until we push an unmarked door that leads to the waiting room where we can also buy tickets for the five minute ride to the central train station. The train is only two wagons long but there are only about 10 people waiting for it so it is not a problem.

We now have another half hour to spend in the Central train station which we do while watching a locomotive move wagons and other locomotives around seemingly with no rhyme and reason.

And then our train is announced and we are ready to go down via the passages to our track and take it. There are a lot of people here and the train is relatively full so we do not find a place to sit until Kolin the next station. From there we can sit down and relax as the train takes us to Prague where we still want to eat some dinner.
