Sweden was one of the most influential Scandinavian country in the 17th century ruling at some point over Finland, Latvia and Estonia as well as parts of Germany and Norway. The era as a great power ended in the 18th century with a defeat against an alliance of basically all neighbors however staying out of both World Wars provided additional dividends with most cities being well preserved compared to other surrounding countries. As such there are quite a few cities to see and visit as well as lots of nature to explore and we plan to return in the future for an in-depth visit to the country.
We made one short side trip to Sweden in 2012 while visiting Finland and explored a Struve Geodetic Arc survey point which is a Unesco World Heritage Site as well as the beautiful Vasikkavuoma naturreservat.
