Hungary is a small country in Central Europe with a big history. That history is visible especially in the grand buildings and castles in Budapest some of which are Unesco World Heritage Sites. Outside of Budapest, by far the major attraction in Hungary, there are other historical cities to visit and castles to see, like Visegrad, as well multiple thermal baths and the Hungarian puszta if so desired.
Overall driving in Hungary is mostly easy with traffic being moderate to easy except in downtown Budapest where it becomes quite heavy. Attractions were usually well marked and we felt safe throughout the country even late at night. People in major cities are likely to speak some English but as you go further from the main cities that becomes unlikely. Food was exceptional and varied, with Hungarian cuisine being in a class of its own. Climate in summer and early fall can be quite hot while in winter it becomes quite cold.
