The Cayman Islands are a self governing British Overseas Territory comprised of three islands, Grand Cayman, Cayman Brac and Little Cayman. One of the interesting things about the Islands is that they were uninhabited prior to the Europeans discovering them, one of the few islands in the Caribbean that were still an unspoiled wilderness at that point. That changed rapidly after discovering them of course with crocodiles and multiple species of birds being exterminated completely and turtles being endangered until they were protected.
Grand Cayman is by far the largest of the three and where the capital is located and the one we decided to visit during a whirlwind five day trip in 2023. Overall the trip was quite interesting and we were surprised at the many attractions on the relatively small island, we really liked the Turtle Sanctuary, Botanical Garden and Starfish Point.
