Visit to the White House, inside and outside at the same time

We have passed in front of the White House the day prior when we explored the National Mall with some reasonably nice views but today, sponsored by the conference, we are supposed to be able to enter the secure perimeter and get close to the White House proper. We wake up early as we have an early entry time and walk to the meeting point.

Here we are really surprised by the lines, there are lines seemingly unending and we despair that we will ever be able to reach the White House. However they move relatively fast and we start to get closer and closer to the White House proper.

We are already inside the secure perimeter and we examine the gardens and enjoy the views over the area we walked the day prior.

Our visit does not include entering the White House so we pass in front of it before continuing on a loop through the gardens towards the exit.

Of course we are on a predetermined route with a lot of security ensuring that we do not stray in any way and start running on the putting green for example.

At the midpoint of the loop we have another nice view of the White House with the crowds of people in front of it, it is surprising how many people it is able to accomodate.

And then we pass the kitchen garden, which we would be surprised if it is used and the South Lawn Fountain and then exit after a relatively disappointing visit of the White House. Next is the Ford Theater, the place where Abraham Lincoln was shot and killed.
