After the Lava Cave the weather improves and we explore the area around Flagstaff for caches. We start with the Continental Loop but our major goal is actually the Saturn pattern made out of caches on State Trust Land that is further southwest.
Today we have a propensity of finding weird things like dead animals and skulls it almost feels like someone is trying to curse us. But luckily all is well in the end…
We start the Saturn Loop in the evening and find a few caches while parking in a spot that becomes our camping spot for the night. Even though it is closer the Flagstaff it is much quieter and less stressful that the one the night before.
In the morning we continue exploring the area finding many of the 35 caches that make up the Saturn pattern while enjoying the great weather and lack of other visitors.
There is also a small waterhole along the way that is used by cows as evidenced by them just waiting for us to leave to move back near the pond. So we do just that and as evening approaches it is time to return to Phoenix after a nice 2 night trip into the high country of Arizona.
