Starting the trip with the Bavaria Filmcity/Filmstadt

Our team is split for a few week with the better half visiting Germany and Romania while the other half stays home. The flight to Germany is good with no delays and here she meets with a friend in Munchen with which she will explore the city and Nuremberg for a few days. The first night is spent at a hotel near the train station in the middle of it all.

Unfortunately the good location does not help with the weather so the decision is made to do something that is more indoor/outdoor and where the weather forecast is looking better. Also taking a bit of time with breakfast, maybe the weather will clear.

The attraction chosen is the Bavaria Filmstadt, a large studio where some famous German movies have been filmed. A train takes you from set to set and you can enter the different studios to look at the locations from iconic German movies.

The key word is German, we do not know most of the movies that well. But we can guess that some were quite action driven given the crashed cars.

One movie that we heard about was Das Boot, a movie adapted from a book that describes the experiences of the author about a German submarine during the Battle of the Atlantic. You can even enter the fake U-Boat and explore it, interesting.

Very popular is also the set from the Neverending Story, lots of people want to ride Falkor, the Luck Dragon.

There are also sets from Asterix and Obelix and a general one about Munchen which is for rent, in case you want to film a movie on a set in a German town. But soon we have to leave as now it is time to move towards Nuremberg where we will spend two nights.
