One, last, night at Playa de las Americas

We decided to pamper ourselves at the end of the long trip and have booked using points a room at a five star hotel in Playa de las Americas near the airport. Finding the hotel is easy but finding the parking not so much, one of us has to go inside to ask the receptionist to let us in in the really small parking lot. The room itself is not that big and has the weird glass window bathroom that seems to be all the rage in five star hotels.

We are welcomed with champagne and orange juice and because we are hungry we also order room service which is reasonably good.

And then we have the bonus for which we payed extra, a spiral staircase going to the roof. Here you can sunbathe, enjoy the views and even take a plunge in the plunge pool.

Well you can take a plunge if you want to die really because you can barely get submerged if you are on your back, the plunge pool is really shallow, not what we expected. We can see the major pool that our hotel can use from here but we have no energy to try it out so plunge pool it is before enjoying the sunset and the nightviews from the roof. Tired we retire for the night, tomorrow we have a long flight ahead of us.

In the morning we descend to the lobby to eat our included buffet breakfast which is really good and then we want to explore the area a bit before leaving.

Exploring the area in this case means a short loop through the hotel grounds and a walk through the private gate to the nearby beach. There aren’t a lot of people outside this morning so we can enjoy the birds as they drink from the pool and play around without getting shooed away by other people.

the beach looks really nice and we are sad a bit that we weren’t able to use it, not a lot we can do about it really now. Everything is quiet after all the milling around of hundreds of tourists the previous day so we enjoy the walk before returning to the hotel and checking out.

The drive to the airport is short and after returning the car it is time to check in our luggage. There are no more issues today after the huge outage a few days ago so we can enter easily and then explore the airport shops until it is time to board.

Again we have to walk to the airplane, quite unexpected for international flights but what can you do about it? Luckily the airplane leaves on time and we have no issues with our connection and after a day arrive in Phoenix tired but full of great memories from this interesting trip.
