Mehtab Bagh, the Taj Gardens

The last stop for the day is in Mehtab Bagh the former Taj Gardens across the Yamuna River. They are famous for the grand views of the Taj across the river and that is what we hope to do today as the Taj proper is closed. But first we have to walk from the parking lot to the entrance avoiding any scammers but inside at least it is full of sightseers only among the extensive gardens.

Soon we have our first view of the Taj Mahal and then we focus on avoiding the water pools from the irrigation as we approach the viewpoint proper.

On the way there are some ruins, there likely was a pavillion here overlooking the Taj Mahal but that is long gone now.

The view from the viewpoint is quite beautiful and we are looking forward to our visit tomorrow when we can hopefully also enter the Taj Mahal proper. There are also other ruins visible from the viewpoint lining up the river side. It is quite beautiful especially when we are away from the major loud groups and it is quieter and we can enjoy the views.

We return via a side path through the garden it is quite beautiful with lots of fruit and crows enjoying it.

It is then time to walk to the parking lot avoiding any obvious scammers and then we have to find the driver to return to the lodging whch is not far away.

While it is not far away there is lots of traffic and a lot of various events happening on the streets. We don’t know what even half of them are, why are there trucks with loudspeakers driving through the city, what are the gatherings here, no idea really.

There are also lots of fruit markets, this is a feature of India we quite like, there are fruit markets everywhere even though we are afraid to buy from them as we don’t want to get sick.

But we do eat at the hotel and all is really good and not too spicy, the food is homemade to order, another great feature of Indian hotels. And then it is time to sleep as we have to wake up early the next day for our Taj Mahal visit.
