It is our last morning at Chambal Safari Lodge and we decide to spend every minute we can on the grounds and to leave only when check out time is upon us. This is because we really enjoy the solitude and quiet of the grounds and the many birds and we plan to look for one that escaped us the day prior. We wake up early and take a walk to the nearby lake, there are no birds but it is quite scenic on its own.
But what we are also waiting on is for the breakfast to start, we are a bit hungry after our fast the previous day. We are there when it opens and the first people in the breakfast room, in fact most other people left even earlier in the day and we are the only people left beside one additional person that comes in later as we are finishing breakfast.
The food is good enough and it is buffet style so we fill ourselves up before a long day of exploration.
We then continue exploring the grounds looking for the Coppersmith Barbet, a relatively common bird that has escaped us until now but we heard a few times. We also have to pay the hotel, luckily we have enough money left exactly to pay this hotel and the next one. And a lot for the driver of course.
We find also a few mammals, we are especially happy to see our first Indian Hare, likely they are difficult to see as we haven’t seen one yet in our trip.
We then continue following the many trails and listening to the bird songs trying to find anything new. There are quite a few interesting birds and then suddenly we hear the barbet in the distance and run towards it.
And there it is, it is quite a beautiful bird and we really enjoy the nice views of it for some time. And then it is time to return to our room and pack and then we leave towards Agra.
We pass again by hay trucks and drying cow patties and brick factories on our way to Agra however it is a short drive only about an hour and then it is time to find our homestay which is really close to Taj Mahal.
They let us in a little before check in time so we unpack and then it is time to visit Agra, starting with Agra Fort a famous fort in the middle of the city.
