In the afternoon after a morning spent exploring the posh Duke University we take a jaunt into north South Carolina to find a few caches also from this new state. New from a geocaching standpoint as we have been here before we started geocaching. There is an area of South Carolina really close to Durham, only about one hour drive, with a a nice park so on we go and soon we are in the forest searching for caches.
One of the caches is near a mill in the forest. It is not the original mill but it was rebuilt based on how it was expected to have looked, as there were no surviving photos either.
Just for safety we look for one more cache in the forest which looks quite haunted. But we make it safely and even find the cache so happily we return back to the airport to return the car and then fly back to Phoenix after a few busy days in the Carolinas.
