On the last day of our trip we decide to explore first Palm Springs proper, even though it is still quite hot outside in th 80s. We eat some breakfast from our provisions, check out and then move towards the first point of interest, a trail that goes up into the mountains to cache and some nice viewpoints.
We have only a short hike planned here, again it is quite hot, but we find a few caches and walk to a couple of the viewpoints which give us an bird’s eye view of the city.
After returning to the car we drive towards the Walk of the Stars and downtown area. After finding a parking place we enjoy the nearby fountain where lots of the pigeons are taking a bath, did we mention it is hot outside?
There is also a statue of Sonny Bono of Bono and Cher fame and he even has his star on the Walk of Stars nearby, as we expected.
We walk a bit more exploring the downtown but in the end we decide to start on our return trip and stop at another point of interest in the area which is a canyon called Painted Canyon and therefore hopefully more shaded,
