Telluride exploration

We wake up refreshed and start our day by exploring Telluride. It is surprising how many people are visiting the area with all the parking lots being full, we are happy we found a parking spot the day prior.

The downtown area is historic and well maintained and we explore it a bit to find a place to eat some breakfast. There are quite a few spots and the one we choose has some good food that we enjoy.

The next item on our to do list is to use the free gondola to climb to the top of the mountain to the small hamlet of Mountain View. It is easy enough to hop on and we have the gondola to ourselves as we climb and enjoy the great views.

At the top you have to jump out of the gondola as it doesn’t stop and then it is time to explore the top of Telluride, the views are simply breathtaking.

Here we are high enough that there are still patches of snow but the melt is ongoing with all the rivers flowing like crazy.

The wildflowers are also out and we enjoy them as we explore the mountain plateau and take in the views.

Back in Telluride we notice the many waterfalls in the surrounding mountains. It is quite exceptional to see 3-4 waterfalls wherever we look.

And each waterfall is now at maximum flow, if we approach one the roar is deafening and quite impressive.

We continue exploring left and right and find quite a few buildings that are in ruin and some that might be or might not be, we are not sure.

Wildlife is out in force also, we see quite a few yellow-bellied marmots which are fearless here which is quite cool.

The trails around Telluride are very scenic and can be as difficult or easy as you want them to be. Today we want them to be easy as much as possible so we pick the flat ones as we explore the surroundings.
