Today we start late in the day on our trip but due to a very good reason. We are spending the morning in a courthouse waiting for a ceremony that one of us has to take part in to end. This takes longer than expected so we drive almost straight to the New Mexico border and then start exploring for a place to car-camp. The Brushy Mountain Area is our choice and we follow a trail of caches trying to find a good enough place to spend the night.
We drive to the top but find no good places so we return slightly back to see if we can find anything else along the main dirt road. The “UFO” is a fun place to stop but there is no place to pull off away from the road so other cars do not disturb us so we continue on.
Finally while enjoying the last rays of the sun we find a good enough spot and soon we are asleep as we are tired after a long and exhausting day and tomorrow we have another long day planned.
We wake up early in the morning before it gets too hot and eat breakfast among the trees. There is no one else around so we enjoy the cooler temperatures at this altitude but soon decide it is time to leave for the next stop.
