We exit the Old Jewish cemetery right next to Klausen Synagogue. It is an unexpected exit as we hoped to be able to return to the starting point to visit the synagogue there but now we have to change our planned route and decide to enter Klausen Synagogue first.
It is meticulously restored with some nice decorations and Hebrew writings lining the walls. While we cannot read them we like how they look and the calligraphy involved.
Inside it is larger than it looks from the outside with some beautiful mosaics with geometric figures covering the floor.
The exhibits themselves are quite informative given additional information about the Jewish way of life in Prague. The objects themselves are quite interesting also and we spend some time examining and studying them..
You can explore both from the ground floor and surprisingly also from the upper floor. The upper floor gives a different perspective of the synagogue which is quite nice.
There are exhibits also on the upper floor but we especially like the view of the interior from the bird’s eye view. Through an open window we also notice that the cemetery is at this level, a good indication of how it grew upwards as more people were buried than there were places.
We spend some time looking at the exhibits especially the older objects and scrolls and then it is time to visit our next synagogue, one of the more famous one, called quite confusingly the Old-New Synagogue.
