Charles Bridge, the most famous bridge in Prague

Descending via Nerudova from the castle it is time to tackle our last attraction for the day, the Charles Bridge. It is a short hop for Malostranske Square and we can already see it in the distance. The flow of tourists is strongest here as it gathers to cross the bridge towards the old town, or in fact are coming from the old town on the other side.

Before taking on the bridge we examine the sweets and specialties on sale on this side of the Vltava. To our surprise one of the specialties is Trdelnik which is considered also a Transylvanian specialty where it is called kürtőskalács. We set a mental reminder to try to eat at least one before we leave, not today though as we are full.

We start in the shadow on the bridge, the sun is already quite low on the horizon and we are not sure if we will be able to get some good photos on the bridge. Even the pigeons are trying to settle for the night as they fly around looking for placing to sleep.

Luckily there are section of the bridge in the sun, it is the Golden Hour where in our opinion the best photos can be taken especially on an East-West bridge like Charles Bridge.

And we are going towards the east with the sun to our back, allowing us some beautiful photos of the Prague downtown as we make our way over the bridge.

Arriving on the other side we are quite happy that there weren’t as many tourists as we have seen in some other photos, just a moderately busy evening.

Now it is time to take the tram for one station. We are quite tired so we decide not to walk into Old Town, that is for tomorrow. Today we just look at the churches at the end of Charles Bridge and then climb into the tram. However disaster strikes as one of us is not able to climb in time and the tram drivers here are quite annoying as they will close the door even if the tram is still empty and people are still climbing in, something we have never seen before. So we have to wait at the next stop and luckily with the next tram we are reunited. Now it is time to laugh, return to the hotel and settle in for the night as tomorrow is another busy day.
