Trefriw – our base in Northern Wales

We have looked for days trying to find a good place to stay in Northern Wales but we couldn’t find anything that had a good cancellation policy. Given that we were coming from multiple directions we wanted to be safe and the only good place we found is in a small town with a difficult, for us, to pronounce name, Trefriw. It is a small AirBnB and both us and our relatives booked separately so we can cancel as needed separately.

The parking is in the back and as we make our way to the front we enjoy all the different birds along the way, mostly blackbirds and pigeons, and the historical buildings on the main street.

The hosts are surprised that two separate groups arrived together until we explain how it happened and then we get an explanation on how the AirBnB works, where the rooms are and how to order breakfast. We visit the common rooms first and already order breakfast from the 3 offered choices for next day and then we move to our rooms.

The rooms are relatively similar with two differences. One is a queen but has an en-suite toliet and the other one is a twin (the only one) but has a toilet that is private but outside the room. We are going to use the queen one and the relatives the twin one and this was another difficulty, there are very few twin rooms in Wales for whatever reason.

Immediately afterwards we return to the streets of Trefriw to search for an open restaurant. There are a few options but we make our way to the closest one which is just a few buildings away from the AirBnB.

We are the last people in and we will be the last people out today. The food takes a bit to make but it is good enough and the extra time gives us a chance to catch up with our relatives.

Quite full we then explore a bit the downtown area before it gets too dark and then quite tired we retire for the night.

We wake up relatively early as the breakfast is at a fixed time and we head to the breakfast room. The food is quite good and what we ordered and it is filling also which is great as we have a long day ahead of us.

As our relatives have a few things to arrange before leaving we explore the garden. It is quite a nice English Garden and a good spot to while away a few minutes or hours.

The garden ends at a creek and on the other side we can see sheeps and a few funny and fluffy lambs. We watch them for a while before returning to the car to wait for the relatives.

Before leaving we take a lot of photos in front of the AirBnB for the albums and then it is on, today we have a grand circuit of Northern Wales planned.
