Today is the day we are leaving the AirBnB to go back towards the coastline. We have a few stops planned along the way but first we really want to explore the small village first. We descend to the main street and cross it carefully while looking for birds or interesting flowers.
There are some nice views of vineyards here, it seems that it is hot enough in the summer for grape growing. However what we really like are the wildflowers that grow between the pavement stones, they are really beautiful.
At the AirBnB we have some good views of what we now call “our” Cyprus Wheatear and some lizards that are sunning on the path between the house and the car.
And then it is time to leave. The first stop is at the Moufflon Sanctuary we saw the day before while descending towards Kakopetria. We are not sure what to expect, can we get there, how much does it cost to enter, how many people are visiting it? The answers were: yes as the road is paved, it is free to enter and no one else is there.
Of course the major question is – can you see any moufflons? And the answer is a resounding yes. We see quite a few moufflons from young and females to impressive adults.
It is also a surprisingly good area for birds. Nothing that different from the previous day but still a good variation of the mountains birds in the area.
In fact here we see also wood pigeons and european goldfinches, birds that we didn’t see the day before on the Artemis trail. We explore up and down until finally it is time to go as we have even more stops planned.
