Panagia tou Moutoulla, a quick but interesting stop

The drive here from the previous church is quite exciting with lots of hairpin curves but luckily not a lot of other cars. We make good time but still arrive only a few minutes before closing as the last hundred meters through the village are a bit difficult to follow, luckily a lady directs us up a road that takes as directly to the church. In fact we park right in front of it, likely we never were closer to a Unesco site with a car before. The church is one the earliest examples of a steep pitched wooden roof church with frescoes which led to it being inscribed as a Unesco World Heritage Site.

Luckily we can enter the church and as we are the only people here take our time to explore the different frescoes. The style is relatively similar with the previous church with colorful paintings of saints and scenes depicting the lives of saints. After getting our fill of the frescoes we decide to skip one of the churches which is further down the mountain and return upwards to another church that we skipped while trying to arrive in Moutoullas before close.
