Munds Area Geocaching

On our weekend one day jaunt north to escape the heat we decide to explore an area south of Flagstaff and northeast of Munds Park. The exploration is to be directed by caches and we start following them trying to avoid any closed roads. The area is surprisingly scenic with many meadows full of wildflowers.

One of the more interesting caches leads us to a stone cabin ruin in the middle of nowhere. It seems we are back in Ireland and seeing medieval ruins on Irish pastures even though we are only three hours away from home.

We leave the most difficult cache last. It is at a top of a small mountain with no trail but with a benchmark to be found at the top. The views are actually quite good especially if you look north towards Flagstaff and Humphrey Peak. And then it is late already and it is time to return home after a nice short trip north.
