Today we want to explore Table Mesa Road specifically the part that in our 4WD book is rated at moderate. That for our car means likely impossible so we drive as far in as we can and then start hiking. Already there we are happy that we didn’t try to drive given the number of wrecks on the side of the road.
The road can be either good and repaired or quite bad and it also makes a few water crossings some of which would have been dicey for our car.
As we climb finding caches along the way we keep an eye for the Indian ruins rumored to be near the road. In the end we assume they must be on top of a tough to climb mountain and give up for today and start descending on the other side of the saddle.
There is no one else hiking on the road and only a couple cars so we have the wilderness for ourselves. The weather is also great which makes for a nice hike but unfortunately with the sun setting we have to return to the car after our ten mile exploration of the area.
