We then continue on the road to the parking lot for Cutthroat Castle. It is not an actual castle but an Indian ruin that looks similar to an European castle ruin, hence the name. It is a short hike to the ruins but quite worth it as the ruins are well preserved and impressive.
The highlight here is the well preserved double walled house which looks like a fortified castle and led to the name. It is worth exploring as it is quite impressive.
We walk to an overlook and notice also the interesting tower nearby so we walk to it also, of course what is a castle without a defensive tower?
Returning to Phoenix there is still time and light enough for us to stop in a roadside parking area for some views of Monument Valley in the sunset. We always liked these formations and they are even more spectacular during the sunset hours. And then in the dark we continue back to our home to rest after these great days full of exciting things to see in Utah and Colorado.
