Next we visit Lowry Pueblo which is also part of the Canyon of the Ancients National Monument. It was excavated in the 1930s and its big attraction is the well preserved big kiva and the big building protected by a modern roof from the elements.
We start our exploration with the covered buildings, they are really well preserved and stabilized. Must have been quite a sight.
You can enter the big building and we do just that and explore the areas that are open to the public. It is quite interesting to enter one of the old Anasazi buildings, especially the kiwas and imagine what happened here hundreds of years ago.
We finish with an exploration of the outdoor ruins especially the huge and impressive Great Kiwa. This one was quite large which means the pueblo population must have been signficant or this was a religious site for multiple smaller communities. And then as we finish it is time to move to the next ruin in the area in Howenveep National Monument.
