To Saint Tropez via Pierrevert

In the morning we say goodbye to our friends, they want to stay back and buy some eyeglasses before starting on the way to Saint Tropez. But we have a meeting with another friend planned so we decide to split and meet up later. It is about a six hour drive to Saint Tropez and we meet with our friend about four hours in so we have a long drive. It is a nice drive through the Alps and we make good time while we wait for our friends in Annecy to also start on the way as they initially also want to reach the meet.

On the way we stop to fill up our tank and we get a surprise as we almost try to fill up at the electric car station which looks like a gas one really..

But the more interesting surprise is inside the gas station. There we find a completely unexpected archaeology exhibit with objects found when building the highway.

It is a surprisingly interesting exhibit including a prehistoric skeleton found nearby with some information on why it was buried and since when, quite cool. Around here we also find out that our friends will not be able to make it to the meet as their RV has issues starting and they are still troubleshooting it back in Annecy.

At least we arrive in Pierrevert at the expected time and meet our friend at the local cafe before deciding to do a walkabout of the small village. As usual it starts with a climb towards the village center which as usual is on the highest portion of the hill. There are also multiple museums but when we check a couple all of them are closed.

Of course even on this short walk it starts to rain but not too bad and we decide to continue exploring the small village with our friend.

As usual we take a look at the windows with many of them closed, either by the inhabitants or because the house is vacant. However a few are open so it seems that not everyone left the village for the summer.

The church in the middle of the village is open, surprisingly, and we visit it on the way enjoying the silence, there is no one else around today.

And then it is time to descend towards our cars as another squall of rain is coming and we make it just in time to say our goodbye and enter the car as the rain starts again.

In fact the rain is so bad that the interstate is closed and we have to take a detour via country roads bypassing the interstate to reach the main road to Saint Tropez. It is a nice drive but very busy as we try to make our way to the AirBnB.

Close by we get lost a few times but finally we reach Cogolin, our base for the next two nights to explore the Saint Tropez area.
