Our last major stop, while returning to Lyon to allow our relative to leave from the airport, is the very special Chateau de la Roche. But first we have to find parking. We look up and down with no empty spots until finally parking on the side of the road hoping there is no issue. As a bonus we are now right in front of the chateau built in 1260 then condemned to disappear when the dam was built but in the end saved and renovated and now sitting on an island.

There are some great views of the beautiful castle and we enjoy the special area and imagine that we are painters that can actually paint the special landscape in front of us. But we are not so in we go towards the castle.

We do not visit the castle, it is by reservation only, but we enter to see the gift shop and sit in the outside area to enjoy the views of the Loire from the island.

And we drink a natural original cola which is quite good surprisingly. But all good things come to an end, we have to leave to reach the airport in time so on we go for two hours until we reach the airport.

Here we say good bye to our relative and then it is time to find our accomodation for the night and maybe some dinner in the Leyrieu area.
