Our last major stop for today is the very interesting Museum of Film and Miniatures. It was one of the recommended stops online and given the number of movies it seemed to cover we really want to visit it and see what it actually contains. The entrance is through the gift shop and there are already some interesting props here so we are looking forward to the visit.

First we go into the cellar, surprisingly the whole floor is dedicated to one movie only, the “Perfume: The Story of a Murderer” movie.

There are some beautiful set pieces from the movie and we can understand the focus but still we didn’t think it was that much of a success to warrant a whole floor. But we have seen the movie and it was quite good one so we like exploring the different sets and seeing all the interesting details.

After the cellar we go up to a section that is dedicated to multiple movies, all of which we have seen and one point or the other. Hogwarts has a corner while Beetlejuice has a much larger section including a sofa where you can sit and take photos with a replica.

At the ground floor is a small exhibit with some movie cars but we are more awed by the next section which has fake guns from many movies. Some of the guns are common but some are more esoteric like the guns from Stargate and other scifi movies.

And then there are all the masks from famous horror movies like Chuckie the doll and Freddy Krueger. About here we find out that our relative does not like horror movies, a bit late. We do enjoy them though and we have fun seeing all the different creepy masks.

And the bat, the scary bat, that one scared quite a few visitors as it is really large and looms over the whole exhibit.

Lots of classic movies are represented here including Indiana Jones, the monkey skulls are a classic, and Edward Scissorhand. Each exhibit has a usually detailed description on how it was used in case you are not aware. Like the scissorhand which was mostly plastic in order to not kill the costars, or himself really.

There are also less scary exhibits like one with fake newspapers from movie, which are now likely CGI, and the Ms Doubtfire mask.

We also like the sci-fi section with many scale models of famous crafts used in movies. They are really detailed and have to be given that they were filmed in lieu of an actual spacecraft, as you would expect.

One of the most interesting exhibits, for us, is the animatronic Alien queen which is moving around quite a bit making scary noises and scaring our relative quite successfully.

The last section is the miniature section and this is an unexpected highlight. There are tens if not hundreds of miniature rooms all exquisitely detailed. If you take the photos just right it seems it is a real photo of whatever the miniature represent, impressive.

We spend some time moving from exhibit to exhibit, this is one that our relative can also enjoy, and then it is time to exit and find a place to eat as we are getting hungry and it is getting late.
