Special geocaching event in Payson

We wanted to attend a special limited celebration event in honor of 25 years of geocaching this year and the only one we found that made sense was in Payson. As it is only one hour away even the early start hour does not discourage us and at 8:30AM we are there to meet with other geocachers. It is surprising how many are here and some are famous to us as we have seen their names in logbooks throughout the state.

The most famous of them all is Team 360 who has “The Original Can of Beans” from the first geocache ever placed, as well as the Original Geocache Stash Tribute Bucket. The Tribute Bucket is a faithful recreation of the original cache including a bean can similar to the original one but in a much better shape.

There are geocoins to look at and log and geocachers to talk too. The most interesting one is 321Kaboom who has some very interesting stories about his time as an aerospace engineer, quite special.

After the event ends we make our way to a breakfast restaurant we scope earlier, luckily there is a free table as the parking is quite full.

The food is quite good and plentiful and full we are ready to find a few of the new caches places for the event. And explore the area a bit and if possible find a camping spot for the night.
