We decided to climb higher as it is too hot in Payson however unfortunately the Rim Road is closed or almost so due to an archery event so we decide to explore from the Control Road and verify a few possible access points to the Highline Trail. The first one is Forest Road 144 from where there is a two mile hike to the trail from a large parking spot on the Control Road. Unfortunately while the spot is good for parking it is not good for camping which is what we intended to do initially.
The road starts with some shade and going slightly uphill but soon all pretense of cover disappears and we are hiking under the hot sun up and up seemingly to no end.
So we decide to stop at an interesting cache, a shark like cache, and return downhill and try a different access point as we are too hot to continue today in the middle of the afternoon.
