After a day spent on the coast it is time to turn inland towards Taichung where we will spend the night. However we have one more stop planned on the hills surrounding the city, the oldest physical geocache in Taiwan is here as well as a special viewpoint. First is the oldest physical geocache which is near an old abandoned bunker. It is interesting to explore, even though only from the outside, the interior is blocked off.

We look for the view that the cache promised and it seems it is gone, there are trees everywhere blocking the view. And then it is time to run to the car, there are multiple dogs approaching at high speed and barking loudly. We make it unscathed to the car and the dogs mostly calm down but still it is time to move on even if for just a few hundreds meters further down the road.

Here, quite close to the bunker is something quite unique, at least as far as we have seen till now. It is a whole park dedicated to a single thing, a viewpoint over Taichung complete with hearts that light at night for even more instagrammable photos.

The views are quite exciting even during the day though and we enjoy taking photos and just seeing the city all laid out in front of us.

We are mostly attracted to a building that is very similar to the Baha’i Temple in Delhi. We assume it is also a Baha’i Temple but it is not, in fact it is very difficult to find info regarding what it is. Most likely it is the temple of a Memorial Park, a cemetery basically, but we are not 100% certain even now.

From here we follow narrow streets and then larger streets towards downtown Taichung where we have booked our hotel for the night. It is rush hour so the streets are packed but slow and steady we are making progress and arrive at a reasonable time in the parking lot. Then we spend half hour trying to get to the hotel through the nearby mall until finally succeeding. And then it is time to explore the downtown area, it is the only time we will have as tomorrow we have a long day planned looking for birds in the nearby mountains.
