The major museum we are planning to visit in San Cristobal is the Museum of the History of Tenerife. it is housed in a magnificent mansion, the Casa Lercaro the former home of a rich Genovese family.
The museum is spread across many rooms and spans the history of the islands however there is relatively little about the Guanches or anything Pre-Hispanic.
We consider the house itself a part of the museum showing us how people were living hundreds of years ago. At least rich people….
There are more exhibits as we approach modern times focused on different industries on the island with wine having a special section.
And hunting, of course, there is a section for hunting and another for beekeeping two major traditions on the island.
And then there is a section for woman jobs and traditions which is mostly related to weaving and cloth making. It is quite interesting and then we are finished and it is time to continue exploring the town.
