After our stay in the Alps it is time to move south towards the Cote d’Azur to meet with our relatives. We have booked after a lot of searching an AirBnB in Mougins near Nice where our relatives will be arriving. Entering the AirBnB is quite complex with three different barriers before finally arriving at the AirBnB, is it really that dangerous? And we miss the entrance so we find out that at the other end the street is also blocked, rather abruptly, by a large boulder.
There were not really many options in the larger area that had three rooms and were reasonably priced so we are happy that the AirBnB itself is ok looking with a large kitchen and living area.
There are also the needed three bedrooms and two bathrooms, otherwise it would be quite difficult with so many people visiting.
After our relatives arrive we have time to explore the area around the AirBnB during the days that follow. There are surprisingly many birds in the gardens all around including beautiful firecrests and rose-ringed parakeets, the same parakeets that we saw for the first time in India.
One of the days we also visit the old downtown area of Mougins which is best accessed via an elevator directly from the large parking lot.
It is quite a touristy town in fact even though there are not that many tourists that late in the day. There is also a relatively creepy and huge head of Picasso, not sure why it feels creepy to us but it is quite a strong feeling.
We start exploring the old streets, they are quite interesting and the houses have the usual Provencal charm.
We especially like the narrow streets that are leading us here and there and we even receive free samples of nougat from one of the many vendors.
The main church sits in the middle of the old town and it is open and we can explore it, we are the only visitors here surprisingly.
We then continue trying to find our relatives that got separated at some point but get distracted by the narrow, winding streets, almost like Eze but without the crowds.
We finally find our relative and then walk round the city finding the elevator and then descending. We are quite happy that we choose this historical city to stay in even though during most other days we visit other cities nearby like Cannes and Nice.
