Our second visit to busy Eze

This is our second visit to Eze after almost ten years ago and it is quite changed. The parking place we used before is full however there is a new garage instead that we can use before making our towards the village. It is sooo much more busy than last time and like literally almost every other village we visit, it feels like an invasion of tourists. At least before the village proper you can walk on the streets passing by large groups however we dread entering the old town with its narrow streets.

There are some nice views as we climb towards the main entrance into the village which is quite narrow creating a queue to exit and enter.

We try to pick the alleys less travelled and also to enjoy the many small art stores along the way. However as we reach the tourists attraction the count of people starts to increase also.

We stop next at the church which is in renovation and right next to the pictoresque cemetery that we visit for a short distance before returning to the church to see if we can enter it.

Even though it is under renovation the church is quite interesting inside and we are happy we entered to explore it.

Besides the art stores there are also many boutiques along the way, with quite a few of them being so full of people that it is impossible to enter, something we haven’t encountered before soooo often as here.

Of course the village itself is quite beautiful as we remembered, with many well preserved historic stone houses.

We find after some searching some more remote boutiques to explore, clothes and jewelry boutiques are quite common but few are as empty as these ones. This is because they are more hidden and not because their wares are not good.

We continue on marveling at the beautiful houses and exploring the more remote areas of the village.

When there are fewer people it feels like you are back in medieval times, too bad that these moments of respite are quite rare.

We are almost lost from time to time as we take narrow stairs and alleys until finally finding the exit from the maze of streets, it is time to move on.

However before that we explore a bit the newer part of the village at the foot of the medieval one with some nice view of the old town’s church and castle as well as of the valley. And then back to the parking and it is time to find the correct way towards our next goal, Villa Kerylos, which is near the shore.
