Jal Mahal, the lake palace

From Jaigarh Fort we drive back towards Jaipur proper with a stop planned along the way. We plan to stop at Man Sagar Lake on the way where we want to see the secret place of our driver and also take in the view of Jal Mahal in the middle of the lake. The secret place is actually quite interesting as it is a feeding place for ducks, cows and other animals and has a good view of Jal Mahal.

The ducks here seem somehow different and after looking more carefully we notice that many of them are knob-billed ducks. It is a lifer for us and surprisingly we won’t see any more during our trip through India, so it was a worthy stop.

There are of course also cormorants and then the goats are incoming. They are quite curious and hungry but after looking at the food on offer from the various visitors they move on exploring the seashore.

From the secret spot we move on to a different viewpoint of Jal Mahal passing by the feeding station for the camels that are used for tourists. The viewpoint is closer and has better lightning for Jal Mahal and we spend a bit of time admiring it before starting to get pestered by hawkers and retreating to the car to move to the next attraction for the day, Gaitor Ki Chhatriyan.
