After lunch with our relative’s friend she is going with them to buy some souvenirs for home and we have a bit of free time. We decide to explore a park close-by, the Tri-City Park. While quite busy at least it is free as other parks around charge for parking or entrance and there is only one hour left till sunset.
Luckily there are a lot of birds in the park from water birds like cormorants to bluebirds so we have a great time just exploring the area after leaving the most populated zones behind us.
And there are geese, a lot of them. Most are Canadian Geese but some are Egyptian Geese, something that we haven’t seen before in the US, likely escapees or they were released here.
We then make our way to start a second tour of the lake and watch the sparrows and warblers as they search for places to spend the night. There are also a few squirrels here, as expected in any large green area.
The sunset is falling and we haven’t yet received a phone call that we have to return to meet our relative so we take our time to enjoy the sunset and catch up on exercise that we skipped for a while.
And then the call comes and we make our way to the car, seeing a very tame yellow-crowned heron on the way. And then it is dinner time and then discussion time and only late in the evening it is return to the AirBnB time to rest as tomorrow we have to return to Phoenix.
